During the winter months, where lipstick is concerned, I tend to reach for darker shades such as deep plums or berry reds pared with a simple eye makeup look or a smoky eye during in the evening. I decided to put this post together showcasing my most reached for lipsticks and hopefully serve as inspiration to try a darker shade of lipstick or perhaps a shade you’re undecided about. All lip swatches are taken during natural day light but please bare in mind that shades may vary due to different monitors and screens.
A wonderful matte red that is purse-friendly and works well for daytime or evening wear. Enriched with ruby powder to intensify the shade and keeping a matte finish with longevity – it is a very comfortable lipstick and the velvet texture glides onto the lips effortlessly.
A vividly bright cherry-red lipstick that makes a bold statement. A slight sheen adds to the dimension and curvature of the lips creating a “oh so kissable” appeal. From the cremesheen collection, this lipstick glides smoothly over the lips and is incredibly pigmented.
A dramatic dark plum-black hue. I prefer to wear this with a pared-back eye makeup look and let the lipstick take centre stage. Long-lasting and feels buttery smooth to the lips – it is a fabulous lipstick, especially for an evening makeup look.
A buttery smooth texture that glides onto the lip effortlessly leaving a matte finish. Suitable for daytime and evening wear, the long-lasting formula is perfect and does not feel drying on the lips. A classic red shade that will suit most skin tones.Maybelline – Midnight Plum
Enriched with honey nectar, this silky-smooth lipstick has a violet-blue undertone giving the shade a multi-tonal effect. A great lipstick for those wanting to try a more daring shade without going too extreme.
I’d love to know what your favourite lipsticks are so please feel free to leave me a comment in the comments section.
