Enjoy a slow summer by indulging in creative thoughts and allow idle past times and simple pleasures envelope you. Summer is surely the time for the simple things; a quiet moment appreciating your garden, fruit picking, a walk through the meadow or listening to the sounds of the shore.
Watch a lovely vlog.
Little snapshots into the daily life pieced together, vlogs (video blog or video log) are lovely to watch and give us a glimpse into whatever it may be. It could be a road trip, a holiday or simply showcasing daily life. There are plenty to watch on YouTube however, if you would like to watch my videos, click here.
Relish in bright blooms.
There is nothing lovelier than seeing bright blousy blooms in the garden during summertime. Cut some flowers and pop into a vase with fresh water or alternatively, shop bought flowers are just as lovely.
Listen to a happy playlist.
Make a playlist of all your favourite feel-good songs. Spotify is a great service that allows you listen to your favourite songs, find music to suit your mood, listen to ready-made playlists from Feel Good Friday to Monday Motivation and allows you to create your very own playlists.
Sip flavoursome fruit infused water.
Quench your thirst this summer by making a fruit infused water. It is so simple and easy to make. Not only adding a flavour to water but is packed with health boosting benefits and natural antioxidants. Here are some variations to try:
- Strawberry & basil
- Lemon, blackberry & rosemary
- Raspberry & mint
- Orange, lemon & lime
- Lime & blueberry
Practice random acts of kindness.
Practice small acts of kindness. It’s the little things that can make somebody’s day. It could be phoning someone for a chat, sending a card instead of a text, giving a bag of homegrown vegetables or a posy of flowers or simply offer your time and a slice of cake.
Stay up late around a fire pit.
Make the most of the great outdoors by wrapping up warm with a soft blanket and a mug of hot chocolate and sit around the fire. Maybe roast some delicious marshmallows, tell stories or stargaze. Looking for a fire pit? Here are some of my top picks:
- Foscot fire pit – Garden Trading
- Large outdoor brazier – Cox & Cox
- Handcrafted garden fire pit – Nordic House
Admire the setting sun.
Sit back and relax while watching the setting sun. There are many lovely places that provide the perfect spot to watch the magic of the last few sunrays but even sat in your garden will do. Wrap up warm and ensure you have a cup of tea or a luxurious hot chocolate.
Eat fish and chips out of newspaper.
Relish in quintessential British seaside tradition by eating a portion of fish and chips with lashings of salt and vinegar out of newspaper. Sit by the shore and watch the world go by.
Play tennis on a warm evening.
With the season of Wimbledon well and truly here, why not enjoy a game of tennis on a warm summers evening? Just don’t forget the champagne and strawberries
Wake up to the sounds of the shore.
There is nothing lovelier than waking up to the gentle and rhythmic sounds of the sea kissing the shore, the cries of seagulls and the hum of activity of local fisherman in the dock.
